We're back!

The Eta Theta blog is back!

So far we’ve had a very busy, fulfilling semester. Some of the highlights include our Mother/Daughter weekend in February, a sisterhood event to Farris and Foster’s Chocolate Factory, Mr. CASAnova throwing us a BBQ at our house, and having our IM soccer players make it all the way to the finals!

Mother/Daughter weekend 2010

Recently, we also had the pleasure of going on a social to Liam Fitzpatrick’s in Lake Mary with the lovely men of Phi Delta Theta on March 18. The theme was "Kiss Me, I'm Irish". Also, on Saturday, March 20, our girls won first place over all in TKE/Tri-Delt’s Triple Play philanthropy! We were all very excited and proud of the participants.

Theta: First place overall in TKE/Tri-Delt Triple Play!

This week, March 22-March 27, marks the beginning of Greek Week, which is something that we’re all very excited about as well. Our team, also known as “The Incredibles”, is comprised of us, Alpha Epsilon Pi, Sigma Pi, and Delta Phi Lambda. We’re looking forward to participating in all of this week’s events, which also includes KnightThon. Together, we feel the entire Greek community can make a difference for the Children’s Miracle Network and we’re so happy to be a part of it.

On Wednesday, March 31st we will be hosting our spring philanthropy, “Fiesta de C.A.S.A”, at our house! It will be a Mexican-themed dinner with plenty of contests, raffles, and fun. We’re all very excited to have the Greek community come over for a good time, all while raising money for the Court Appointed Special Advocates. Our philanthropy is very close to our hearts and we’re looking forward to hosting this event!

Although the semester is half over, there are many more events coming up for Eta Theta. Stay tuned for more updates and photos. Lastly, if you have a Twitter account, you can follow us! The link is: http://twitter.com/etathetaucf

The Semester in Review

After an absence, the Eta Theta blog is back up and running! The semester is coming to a close, but it has been an exciting few months in Theta-land. The semester kicked off with a Founders' Day brunch, where more than 40 alumni joined sisters for food, friendship, and a showing of videos about the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation and the 2008 Recruitment video.

February was a busy month, as Theta won First Place Overall at Beta/Zeta Presents: UCF's Best Dance Crew. Two members of Theta, Takara Anderson and Ann Hunter, also participated in Miss UCF. Takara came in First Runner Up at the pageant, and won Miss Congeniality and Audience Favorite. At the end of the month, Theta got a chance to introduce their mothers to the sisterhood, with Mother-Daughter Weekend 2009. The activities kicked off with a dinner and movie at Southside BBQ, and continued the next day with a seminar about spa products and a trip to Florida Mall for a photo scavenger hunt.

During March, Theta participated and won First Place for Sororities at AEPhi’s Bowlanthropy. The next week, Theta’s traveled near and far for Spring Break, with a group of girls going on a cruise, others to a resort in the Bahamas, and even others to Italy!

March 19 went down as an important day in Eta Theta’s history, as the chapter was chosen by UCF to receive one of the on-campus houses available to rent. All of Theta is excited for the opportunity, and is looking forward to moving into the house in Fall 09.

The semester has been winding down with lots of philanthropy everts and of course, everyone’s favorite – Greek Week! Congratulations to the entire Blue Team for placing third overall at Greek Week 2009. Sisters also competed in FIJI’s Island Princess, DTD’s Miss Greek, and DU’s DU Darling Pageants. Theta also held its own signature philanthropy event, Spring Fling. This year, fourteen teams participated, helping Theta raise over $1500 for the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation and C.A.S.A.

Besides all of these fun times and great accomplishments, Thetas also went on many socials, from "Stop Light" with Alpha Epsilon Pi and Sigma Pi, to "The 70's" with Delta Upsilon, and their Twin Star Formal. Sisters also bonded on many sisterhood events, including a trip to Ginnie Springs, and events at Farris and Foster's Chocolate Company and Build-a-Bear.

Can't wait to see what Fall Semester holds!

Fall Updates!

We definitely started this Fall semester off with a bang!

After a successful recruitment, the ladies of Eta Theta hosted two incredible philanthropy events, raising over $2,000 for the Court Appointed Special Advocates Program.

Charity Denim, hosted for the first time in the Fairwinds Alumni Center, was a shopaholic's dream! We earned money for CASA by selling designer jeans at wholesale prices. Plus, we brought in local boutiques, Lily Pulitzer of Winter Park, Stahli, and Downtown Divas who donated 20% of their sales to CASA.

Mr. Casanova was also exciting this year. Chris "Panda" Morata of Theta Chi was crowned the 2008 Mr. Casanova. The competition consisted of Charity Denim volunteering, a fund raiser at Red Brick Pizza, and an awesome pagent complete with Theta wear and talents. We're so grateful for all of the guys who participated this year and are excited to spend the year with Panda!

Besides raising money for CASA, we've been busy all around campus.

Congratulations to Ann Hunter and Takara Anderson for becoming contestants in the Miss UCF pagaent! Also, congratulations to Nicole Soros for being elected Junior Panhellenic Treasurer!

Coming Soon: Thetas dare to enter the world of Bloody Mary at Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights 18 for Date Function! Plus, family weekend, semi-formal, philanthropies, socials, and our favorite time of year -- HOMECOMING!

Eta Theta Welcomes Debbie Allen!

This evening's Panhellenic Pride Week was very special to all of us! The UCF Panhellenic Council hosted a panel of exciting Greek women speakers, including Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity vice president - education, Debbie Allen. Ms. Allen is responsible for the direction and coordination of all Kappa Alpha Theta education programs.

We loved hosting our sister and Grand Council member at the panel and really appreciated the opportunity to hear her take on being a Greek woman.
