After an absence, the Eta Theta blog is back up and running! The semester is coming to a close, but it has been an exciting few months in Theta-land. The semester kicked off with a Founders' Day brunch, where more than 40 alumni joined sisters for food, friendship, and a showing of videos about the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation and the 2008 Recruitment video.
February was a busy month, as Theta won First Place Overall at Beta/Zeta Presents: UCF's Best Dance Crew. Two members of Theta, Takara Anderson and Ann Hunter, also participated in Miss UCF. Takara came in First Runner Up at the pageant, and won Miss Congeniality and Audience Favorite. At the end of the month, Theta got a chance to introduce their mothers to the sisterhood, with Mother-Daughter Weekend 2009.
The activities kicked off with a dinner and movie at Southside BBQ, and continued the next day with a seminar about spa products and a trip to Florida Mall for a photo scavenger hunt.
During March, Theta participated and won First Place for Sororities at AEPhi’s Bowlanthropy. The next week, Theta’s traveled near and far for Spring Break, with a group of girls going on a cruise, others to a resort in the Bahamas, and even others to Italy!
March 19 went down as an important day in Eta Theta’s history, as the chapter was chosen by UCF to receive one of the on-campus houses available to rent. All of Theta is excited for the opportunity, and is looking forward to moving into the house in Fall 09.
The semester has been winding down with lots of philanthropy everts and of course, everyone’s favorite – Greek Week! Congratulations to the entire Blue Team for placing third overall at Greek Week 2009. Sisters also competed in FIJI’s Island Princess, DTD’s Miss Greek, and DU’s DU Darling Pageants. Theta also held its own signature philanthropy event, Spring Fling. This year, fourteen teams participated, helping Theta raise over $1500 for the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation and C.A.S.A.
Besides all of these fun times and great accomplishments, Thetas also went on many socials, from "Stop Light" with Alpha Epsilon Pi and Sigma Pi, to "The 70's" with Delta Upsilon, and their Twin Star Formal. Sisters also bonded on many sisterhood events, including a trip to Ginnie Springs, and events at Farris and Foster's Chocolate Company and Build-a-Bear.
Can't wait to see what Fall Semester holds!
