Fall Semester 2012

Our sorority has had such a busy Fall Semester I don't even know where to begin.

We took in 44 new members and couldn't be happier to call them our sisters. Our bid day theme was "J'adore Theta", which let our new members know that they were loved by theta by all of us from the beginning.

Once bid day passed by we started having lovely sisterhood events like going rollerblading, laser tag games, and so much more that we were busy almost every other night participating in Theta activities.

Our First Place Arrow Bowl Team
Our new members after the performed at Zeta Lip Sync

On top of our sisterhood event schedule we also we're busy with philanthropies like Zeta Tau Alpha's Lip Sync and Kappa Delta's Shakedown in September. Along with ΛΧΑ's Watermelon Bust, TKE's Ronald RayGun laser tag event, Kappa Kappa Gamma's Kappa Cook-off, and Pi Beta Phi's Arrow bowl, which we won first place in.

Social with ZBT
Our social calendar this past semester was extremely full this semester as well. We had our date function at Universals Halloween Horror Nights, which was a lot of fun and scary at the same time.
Our Social with our homecoming buddies  ΔΣΦ and ΒΘΠ
We had some socials with ZBT, ΣX, ΔΣΦ, ΒΘΠ, and ΚΣ. We had a day were we relived our childhood with inflatable slides in our backyard with ZBT. Went downtown with ΣX and had an "I'm on a boat" themed social. For our homecoming social we had with ΔΣΦ and ΒΘΠ we went downtown and the theme was "Post-Halloween," meaning we could break out our Halloween costumes to wear. Finally our social with ΚΣ we were all put into the Holiday spirit with our "Holiday" theme.

Can't wait to see what Spring Semester has in store for us!
Until then,

The fall 2010 semester!

Our chapter has had a busy couple of months since the beginning of the semester!

This fall Eta Theta welcomed over 60 beautiful new members. We're so proud and excited that we can call them all our sisters. Our bid day in August was "Cinderella" themed, letting our new girls know that Theta is their "perfect fit".

After bid day we jumped right into activities like sisterhood events, socials, and several philanthropies including Kappa Delta's Shakedown in September and Zeta Tau Alpha's New Member Lip Sync in October. Our girls did a phenomenal job and we were excited to go out there to support them!

Not only did we participate in other Panhellenic chapters' philanthropies, but we also participated in UCF's Knights Give Back. Also on October 19th Eta Theta celebrated Bettie Locke's birthday by participating in Kappa Alpha Theta's Day of Service. Our chapter collected tons of canned food for Central Florida's Second Harvest Food Bank. We love spreading the widest influence for good!

Last spring, the University of Tampa voted to expand on campus and Kappa Alpha Theta was the chapter chosen to come on. Eta Theta was asked to help establish their charter class during recruitment in September, and we're happy to see that since then they've started growing! We can't wait to hear news from that chapter in the weeks and years to come. Below is a photo of some of us being silly when we went to UT in September!

In other news, our girls are undefeated in IM Basketball! We're so excited to go out and cheer on our team in the upcoming playoffs.

Also coming up we have our date function to Halloween Horror Nights and Eta Theta's 10th year anniversary! It's going to be a fun and amazing few weeks. We can't wait to see what the rest of the semester has in store for us as well!

Until then,

The semester is ending!

Eta Theta has had a busy couple of weeks recently!

Since our last update, we held our spring philanthropy at our house: Fiesta de CASA! This was the first year we did the event, and it was a huge success. A lot of the Greek community attended our Mexican-themed dinner, and we raised a lot of money for CASA and the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation.

We also got third place at Theta Chi's philanthropy, GI Theta Chi!

Also, in other exciting news, we were awarded Panhellenic Chapter of the Year for the second year in a row! This is a huge honor, and we're very grateful and humbled. We only hope to continue to get stronger in campus involvement, philanthropy, and sisterhood in the coming years at UCF!

The same night we found out we received chapter of the year, one of our sisters, Takara Anderson, got engaged during a candle pass! Her boyfriend proposed with her entire family and friends present. We were very excited to be a part of one of the happiest days in her life. The link to the video of the proposal is here: Takara and Travis's engagement: theproposalstory.com

We also had our Southern Ball formal on April 9 at Highland Manor in Apopka. Everyone had a great time, and the food was excellent. It was a great way to end the year and spend time with our 28 graduating seniors.

On April 18, we had homecoming serenades. We're also happy to say that we've chosen to pair with the gentlemen of Delta Tau Delta for homecoming 2010! Over the last few days we've been getting to know some of the brothers, and we're very excited for the fall.

As the semester winds down we have a few last events before everyone separates for the summer. On April 21 we are having a sisterhood event at Arabian Nights, and on April 23 we'll be having a "chapter lock-in" and sleeping over at the house. This is when our graduating seniors will read their wills and we'll all get to bond one last time before the semester is over. The following morning, April 24, we'll be waking up and leaving for Kite Krash at Ginnie Springs! This is something we all have been looking forward to all semester. It should be a fun week!

We hope everyone has a good rest of the semester! Good luck on finals, and have a great summer!

Theta love ♥

We're back!

The Eta Theta blog is back!

So far we’ve had a very busy, fulfilling semester. Some of the highlights include our Mother/Daughter weekend in February, a sisterhood event to Farris and Foster’s Chocolate Factory, Mr. CASAnova throwing us a BBQ at our house, and having our IM soccer players make it all the way to the finals!

Mother/Daughter weekend 2010

Recently, we also had the pleasure of going on a social to Liam Fitzpatrick’s in Lake Mary with the lovely men of Phi Delta Theta on March 18. The theme was "Kiss Me, I'm Irish". Also, on Saturday, March 20, our girls won first place over all in TKE/Tri-Delt’s Triple Play philanthropy! We were all very excited and proud of the participants.

Before the social with our Mr. CASAnova, Jake

Theta: First place overall in TKE/Tri-Delt Triple Play!

This week, March 22-March 27, marks the beginning of Greek Week, which is something that we’re all very excited about as well. Our team, also known as “The Incredibles”, is comprised of us, Alpha Epsilon Pi, Sigma Pi, and Delta Phi Lambda. We’re looking forward to participating in all of this week’s events, which also includes KnightThon. Together, we feel the entire Greek community can make a difference for the Children’s Miracle Network and we’re so happy to be a part of it.

On Wednesday, March 31st we will be hosting our spring philanthropy, “Fiesta de C.A.S.A”, at our house! It will be a Mexican-themed dinner with plenty of contests, raffles, and fun. We’re all very excited to have the Greek community come over for a good time, all while raising money for the Court Appointed Special Advocates. Our philanthropy is very close to our hearts and we’re looking forward to hosting this event!

Although the semester is half over, there are many more events coming up for Eta Theta. Stay tuned for more updates and photos. Lastly, if you have a Twitter account, you can follow us! The link is: http://twitter.com/etathetaucf

The Semester in Review

After an absence, the Eta Theta blog is back up and running! The semester is coming to a close, but it has been an exciting few months in Theta-land. The semester kicked off with a Founders' Day brunch, where more than 40 alumni joined sisters for food, friendship, and a showing of videos about the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation and the 2008 Recruitment video.

February was a busy month, as Theta won First Place Overall at Beta/Zeta Presents: UCF's Best Dance Crew. Two members of Theta, Takara Anderson and Ann Hunter, also participated in Miss UCF. Takara came in First Runner Up at the pageant, and won Miss Congeniality and Audience Favorite. At the end of the month, Theta got a chance to introduce their mothers to the sisterhood, with Mother-Daughter Weekend 2009. The activities kicked off with a dinner and movie at Southside BBQ, and continued the next day with a seminar about spa products and a trip to Florida Mall for a photo scavenger hunt.

During March, Theta participated and won First Place for Sororities at AEPhi’s Bowlanthropy. The next week, Theta’s traveled near and far for Spring Break, with a group of girls going on a cruise, others to a resort in the Bahamas, and even others to Italy!

March 19 went down as an important day in Eta Theta’s history, as the chapter was chosen by UCF to receive one of the on-campus houses available to rent. All of Theta is excited for the opportunity, and is looking forward to moving into the house in Fall 09.

The semester has been winding down with lots of philanthropy everts and of course, everyone’s favorite – Greek Week! Congratulations to the entire Blue Team for placing third overall at Greek Week 2009. Sisters also competed in FIJI’s Island Princess, DTD’s Miss Greek, and DU’s DU Darling Pageants. Theta also held its own signature philanthropy event, Spring Fling. This year, fourteen teams participated, helping Theta raise over $1500 for the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation and C.A.S.A.

Besides all of these fun times and great accomplishments, Thetas also went on many socials, from "Stop Light" with Alpha Epsilon Pi and Sigma Pi, to "The 70's" with Delta Upsilon, and their Twin Star Formal. Sisters also bonded on many sisterhood events, including a trip to Ginnie Springs, and events at Farris and Foster's Chocolate Company and Build-a-Bear.

Can't wait to see what Fall Semester holds!

Legally Blonde Steals the Show

Member Class 2008 took performing to an ELLE of a new level this year at Zeta Tau Alpha's New Member Lip Synce benefiting Breast Cancer Research! The girl's production of Broadway's Legally Blonde the Musical showcased our new members dance, choreographing, singing and acting talents and impressed the entire UCF Greek community with an award for 1st Place Sorority!
